A truly inspirational piece that transcends time possibly because the movie and this song are strongly intertwined.  Gonna Fly Now is an original composition by Bill Conti and lyrics by Carol Connors and Ayn Robbins.  It is the theme of the movie Rocky.  The song was nominated for Best Original Song in the 49th Academy Awards in 1977 where Rocky the movie received Best Picture and Best Director awards.
