Man in the mirror is said to be one of Michael Jackson’s favourite songs.  It was nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammy awards and is noted as one of the most critically acclaimed.  The music video is unusual for Michael Jackson as he does not feature in the video and is only seen for a brief appearance.  The video is set with footage from various major events and features leaders including famous humanitarians.

What we like

  • The song confronts us with facing issues that we may not want to acknowledge or take responsibility for
  • It challenges us to make a difference by firstly changing our own ways

Mind experience

  • It is often easier to recognise the flaws of another person, another country, the other.  It is when we make a conscious effort to think about our own and what good will come of altering these thoughts or actions that we make progress in our own world of change

To think about

  • I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
    Take a look at yourself
    And then make that change
