What we like

  • There are so many likeable traits to this movie. Firstly, growing to understand Forrest Gump himself and his unique view of life. The interweaving of his life with history. The characters he meets on his journey and how they impact each other. The love he maintains throughout his life and in particular for Jenny Curran. The clever way all this is interwoven with spectacular cinematography, editing and historically charged soundtrack

Soul experience

  • Forrest Gump’s mother made sure that she laid the foundation of a life where Forrest could fit in. Through her explanations she was able to make circumstances understandable to Forrest. He carried this through his life and kept centred on what was truly important. It is important to lay good foundations for our children to help them with the challenges of life. If we have not had this for ourselves as children, then it is important to create these foundations for ourselves, right here right now

To reflect on

  • Jenny Curran: Were you scared in Vietnam?
    Forrest Gump: Yes. Well, I… I don’t know…
Sometimes it would stop raining long enough for the stars to come out… and then it was nice.
It was like just before the sun goes to bed down on the bayou. There was always a million sparkles on the water… Like that mountain lake. It was so clear, Jenny, it looked like there were two skies one on top of the other. And then in the desert, when the sun comes up, I couldn’t tell where heaven stopped and the earth began. It’s so beautiful.
Jenny Curran: I wish I could’ve been there with you.
    Forrest Gump: You were.
