The song was composed and produced by Brian Wilson with lyrics by Mike Love and performed by The Beach Boys. The idea of good vibration was developed from the idea of dogs responding to people through their vibrations. The Beach Boys received a Grammy nomination for Best Vocal Group Performance as a result of the success of this song. The song is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll list.

What we like

  • The song was recorded over eight months in several Los Angeles studios, it also included an array of unusual instruments and that distinctive sound of their vocal harmonies.  All this give an amazing splash of sound and excitement. The sound that feels light and bounces around on all those good vibrations!

Mind experience

  • Although the song seems to centre on vibrations given out romantically, the underlying thought is that vibrations of a person can be felt. If we are vibrational beings then what we are thinking can be felt through vibrations as well, regardless of how we are acting. So when someone asks you what is wrong and you are quick to explain nothing – just think about those vibrations you are giving out. Wouldn’t you prefer to be giving out … good vibrations?
