Con te Partiro was first sang by Andrea Bocelli at the 1995 Sanremo Festival and recorded that year. He has made a second version in English Time to Say Goodbye with Sarah Brightman and third in Spanish called Por ti Volare. This song is Bocelli’s signature. Con te Partiro has been translated into an English as Time to Say Goodbye, however it’s literal translation is “with you I will leave”. Andrea Bocelli is an Italian tenor and singer, songwriter. He had sight problems from birth but at the age of twelve following a football accident he lost his eyesight completely.

What we like

  • We love Bocelli’s solo version in Italian. Bocelli’s expression allows you to somehow understand the meaning through the force of feeling without the necessity of understanding the words

Soul experience

  • This song apparently has been played at many funerals and it has been no exception to us. The difference with us is we played this song to our grandmother many years prior while she was alive and saw the warmth of her reaction. When she passed at the wonderful age of 104 years we played this song at her funeral with a slideshow which gave tribute to her beautiful life. Upon hearing this song the two memories melt away to where only love exists.  Far from being a song of sorrow it is a song rejoicing that of what we hold true

To reflect on

  • When you are far away
    I dream on the horizon
    And words fail
    and, yes, I know
    that you are with me
you, my moon, are here with me
my sun, you are here with me
with me, with me, with me
