Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America and was a jazz trumpeter and singer.  He was instantly recognised through the way he would manipulate lyrics and melodies of a song to place an expressive quality to it.  He certainly did this with What a Wonderful World and this is why his version is still popular till today.  This song was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.

What we like

  • The song itself is delivered perfectly by Louis Armstrong.  There have been other great artists who have since sung this song.  As they say, the original is often the best – there is only one Louis Armstrong

Mind experience

  • The song serves to remind us that we have a wonderful world to appreciate. We can look to even the simplest things of life and still see it as a wonderful world.  And with the future, there is always the hope of growth in a new generation

To think about

  • The colours of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They’re really saying I love you
