Simple & basic brown rice

Brown rice has a richer depth of flavour and is filling. Brown rice and white rice are similar with the difference in the processing and nutrients. Brown rice is made by removing the husk which is the outermost layer of a a grain of rice and maintains various nutrients. White rice removes the next layers underneath the husk and therefore loses nutrients in the process.
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown rice – rinsed
- 2 cups water
Directions
- Rinse the rice in a small bowl by running water slowly over the rice. Gently pour out the water from the bowl.
- In a medium pot add water and rice bringing to a boil.
- Simmer on a low heat covered for 30 minutes.
- Remove from heat and rest for 10 minutes. If the water has not fully absorbed pour excess water out. Serve or add to dish of choice.
